Mobilise your Team with Power Apps Mobile

Did you know that if you are you currently using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or #MicrosoftPowerApps you have access to a FREE app that can help you mobilise your teams? Here’s how to install and use it within minutes.

Simply visit your app store, install it on your device

Sign in using your work credentials

Find the app you need

When you create an app, or someone shares an app with you—either a canvas app or model-driven app—you can run that app on Power Apps mobile.

  1. Settings: Access app settings and sign out.
  1. Search: Use the search to search for apps. When you run a search, it will only search for apps that are on the screen you’re on.
  1. Favourites (canvas apps only): Displays canvas apps that you have pinned to favourites.
  1. Recent apps: Displays both model-driven and canvas apps that you have recently used.
  1. Home: Displays favourite apps and recently accessed apps sorted by open date.
  1. All apps: Displays all canvas apps and model-driven apps to which you have access, including apps you created and apps that others shared with you.
  1. More (canvas apps only): Displays featured and sample apps.
  1. Details: View information about the app including run the app, add a shortcut for the app, and add the app to favourites.
  1. Sort apps: You can short by the app name or modified date.

Select the app you need and away you go

Within the app itself you can search, add different apps you’ve created to you favourites and add them to the home screen of your device.

One gotcha to look out for..

The good news is you can test non production apps currently in development. If, like me when I first used the app, you were franticly searching for them (but couldn’t find them) then follow the step below to ensure they also appear in your list of apps to choose from

Select the Settings menu, and then turn on Show non-production apps. Follow the instructions that appear.

And it works offline

Wouldn’t it be great to use your mobile app without worrying about spotty internet connectivity? With model-driven apps made with Power Apps and the new, mobile offline-first experience, it’s possible. People who need to work from remote locations can continue to work seamlessly without worrying about their internet connection.

With the new, mobile offline experience enabled for your model-driven apps, not only can you continue working in offline mode, you’ll also have better device performance, a more responsive app, and less drain on the battery because fewer connections are being made to the server.

To get started with mobile offline, an app maker needs to enable and define the tables that are available for offline use by using the modern app designer. For more information, go to Set up mobile offline

Power Apps monitors network access and automatically syncs the changes you have made locally with the server, and downloads any updates made on the server.

Important – An internet connection is required to sync data between your mobile device and Microsoft Dataverse (where your PowerApps data is stored). Its worth doing this at the start of the day when you may have access to Wi-Fi and then sporadically throughout the day to ensure you’re data is up to date on your device.

Did you know you can also access the apps via your browser?

You can save an app’s URL as a bookmark in your browser and run it by selecting the bookmark, or you can send a URL as a link through email. If someone else created an app and shared it with you in an email, you can run the app by selecting the link in the email. When running an app using a URL, you may be prompted to sign in using your work credentials

Connect to data

If an app requires a connection to a data source or permission to use the device’s capabilities (such as the camera or location services), you must give consent before you can use the app. Typically, you’re prompted only the first time.
